Fighting For The Title

Hey guys,

This is the final update for the season as I don’t want to do to many and drag them out while we are in the lower leagues. We are in a good position and have a good chance of going up this season. We also have the transfer window to get through as well. Can we stay in the play-offs or even go for the top spot!?

Transfer Window roundup

Cameron O’Neil:

oneil

Cameron comes in after we had agreed to sign him a couple of months ago which I mentioned in a previous update. He comes in to help improve our centre mid position.

Ryan Baptie:

baptie.png

Ryan was signed by the DOF. He will be our first choice left back as we don’t have a real decent option in that position.

Rory Currie:

currie.png

Rory comes in and will hopefully fill the gap Norris has left. I am hoping he will link up wink with Biddulph.

Greg Morrison:

Greg is another striker we have brought in. Despite us being in the fight for the title I felt we lack strikers who can score on a regular basis. He is not as good as Rory but he will mostly come off the bench unless someone gets injured.

Greg Taylor:

Greg is ANOTHER striker that has come in to the club. We have had him in on trial for a couple of months and he has looked decent so we decided to sign him up.

East Fife – Away – League – 10th V 3rd

east fife.png

A good performance from us seen us take the 3 points home with us. We got our first goal just after half time and that really seemed to settle us down. We was the better team on the day but left it late to win it by scoring two goals in the last couple of minutes of the game.

Elgin City – Away – League – 2nd V 3rd

elgin.png

Elgin scored straight from the kick off which was shocking on our part. We looked poor all game and Elgin deserved the win. I hoped for more and thought we would of put up more of a fight.

Annan – Home – League – 3rd V 8th

annan.png

A bore draw from this game. Cameron O’Neil made his debut this game and looked decent and comfortable on the ball. A pretty even game with neither team look like winning.

Albion Rovers – Home – League – 1st V 4th

albion.png

A good first half from us where we came out fighting. We got both of our goals in the first half to wrap the game up.A good win for us and a good performance.

Arbroath – Away – League – 3rd V 4th

arbroath.png

Another bore draw. We really should of won but we just couldn’t take our chances. Pleased we limited them to one half chance.

Peterhead – Home – League – 4th V 9th

peterhead

A great start from us seen us go 2-0 up within 5 minutes. We controlled the game overall and never looked like losing. Currie got his first goals for us in this game as well.

Forfar – Home – League – 1st V 8th

forfar.png

A pretty even game with neither team taking their chances. Not a lot happened with it being a quiet game. McNaughton got injure this game is out for 5 weeks with a broken shoulder.

Cove Rangers – Away – League – 5th V 3rd

cove rangers.png

We started well and got our only goal on the 20th minute. We deservedly lead at half time and went on to control the second half to get the 3 points. A good result for us.

Stirling – Away – League – 4th V 2nd

stirling.png

A poor start from us seen us go behind on the half hour mark. We got back in to the game thanks to Currie. A poor performance from us in a scrappy game. Happy to come back with a point.

Elgin City – Home – League – 2nd V 4th

elgin 2.png

A slow start from us this game until we got our first goal thanks to Morrison who went on to get his hat trick. A good performance from us in an even game which seen us move back to the top of the league. Morrison twisted his ankle and will be out for 6-7 weeks.

East Fife – Home – League – 1st V 10th

east fife 2.png

We looked really poor the whole game and East Fife took full advantage of that and put 3 past us. Our performance this game didn’t look like us or how we have played lately. Only positive from this game is teams around us failed to get points which keeps us top.

Youth Intake

Scott Leslie:

leslie.png

Scott is the player that they recommend is the next big thing. He will get game time and we shall see how he develops.

John Smith:

smith.png

John is the next best player we got in this years youth intake. We our lacking in wingers so he may be in and around the team more than expected. We may be able to do something with him.

Again we get pretty average youth players. I will look to talk the board about improving the junior coaching.

Annan – Away – League – 8th V 1st

annan 2.png

A heavy defeat handed to us by Annan. We conceded a couple of goals early on and that put them in full control. This is by far the worse performance from us I have seen.

Albion Rovers – Home – League – 2nd V 1st

albion 2.png

An early goal from Biddulph seen us get the win. A good performance from us on the back of two defeats. We looked back to how we usually play and looked comfortable on the ball.

Peterhead – Away – League – 10th V 1st

peterhead-2peterhead-8-2

WOW! Where do I begin!? An amazing performance from seen us smash 8 past Peterhead. Mazana got his first goal for us. We looked slow and Peterhead took an early lead which went on to be a game with goals galore. Best I have ever seen us play. Confidence from the champions elect…?

Arbroath – Home – League – 1st V 6th

arbroath-2

We carried on the winning form with a 2-1 win against Arbroath. It took us until the second half to score and come from behind to get the win. They got their goal against the run of play.

Win today and we win the league. It is that simple….

Forfar – Away – League – 8th V 1st

forfar-2

A game in which we couldn’t take our chances. We should of won but our defensive errors cost us. An average performance but we move on.

So we go in to the final game of the season with a chance of winning the league….

Cove Rangers – Home – League – 1st V 4th

cove 2.png

A quiet first half from both teams but we came out in the second and seemed to kick on and we got our well deserved goals. We looked good and deserved the 3 points. McNaughton got his first goal for the club after scoring a bizarre goal from about 50 yards out.

So….

champions.png

we are the… Champions!!

WOW! We have only gone and won the league! In all honestly I didn’t think we would win it. We looked so much better in the last half of the season. It has been an amazing season and winning the league tops it off. The boys have been amazing. I can not believe it. I know it is not a big league but for us as an amateur team to go and win the league is pretty incredible.

Results

results.png

In the last half of the season we lost 3 games. Pretty decent for a team in a league as close as this. We did drop a couple of points but that didn’t matter in the end. They all count! overall I am pleased with how we have played this season. Picking up the points which we wouldn’t of last season has helped us win this league.

Table

final table.png

We sit top of the league as champions after the last game of the season. Looks good doesn’t it!? We was the in form team going in to the final few games. I am delighted to win this league. It was so close between the top 4/5 for the majority of the season. We kicked on and picked up win after win to help secure top spot.

Stats/Season Review/Awards

As expected Caldwell gets young player of the season. He did drop out of the team later on in the season but he will be in and around next season still. Kuznecovs gets fans players of the season miles ahead of anyone else.

player-stats

Biddulph finished the season as top goalscorer with 13 which shows that we lack a 20+ goal striker.

review

Overall the season has been a pretty successful one. We won the league and did alright in the cups.As you can see we have been there or there about’s for most of the season.

well that is this season finished and we won it! Queen’s Park are the champions! Next season we will fight again! I hope we will become a semi pro team which will help us massively and help improve the quality of player we can attract.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it! I also hope you are as happy as I am with what we have achieved.
