One Hand On The Trophy?

Hey guys,

Welcome back to part 1 of my blog for my final season as Crawley on FM16. We are in to the final half of the season and sit top of the league with a strong chance of winning the league. The boys have done fantastically this season and have stepped up and delivered for us. Can we win the league? will we bottle it? we have a slight gap to second place which helps us.

Transfer Roundup

Mick Brannan:

DOF brought him in on loan for the rest of the season and he has been a good addition to the squad and has chipped in with a couple of goals and assists. His stats are decent and will only improve. Would love to see how we would turn out in a few more seasons!

Bradley Clayton:

Another loan signing that the DOF has brought in. He has more quality than some of our strikers at the club so is more likely to get more minutes on the pitch. Again he has good stats.

Jonatas Centeno:

The last arrival of the season is Centeno on loan from Sheffield Wednesday. He comes in to fill the right back position as our first choice got injured and we don’t have a ready replacement at the club who is good enough.

Bromley – Home – League 1st V 8th

A goal from either team within the first 25 minutes. We took the lead just before half time from an own goal. We came out looking more likely to get the win and we got our 3rd just after half time with us also getting two more from Walters and debut goal from Brannan.

Forest Green – Home – League – 1st V 17th

A disappointing result against an average Forest Green side. We conceded early and never looked like getting a foot back in to the game. We did look better in the second half but not good enough to threaten their goal.

Sutton United – Away – League – 18th V 1st

We conceded straight from kick off which turned out to be the only goal of the game which gave Sutton the 3 points. A poor performance overall but we did create a good amount of chances just not any serious enough to threaten the goal. How we didn’t come away with points I don’t know.

Woking – Away – League – 6th V 1st

Another early goal in our game but from us this time thanks to Brindley in the 4th minute. Smith got our second goal and his first from the club with a 30 yard screamer! A quality performance from us which is much needed after losing 2 on the bounce.

Dartford – Home – FA Trophy 2nd Round

Another game in which we dominated but couldn’t take our chances. Disappointed to get knocked out of the cup but we can now concentrate on winning the league. I don’t know how we didn’t score this game.

Nantwich – Home – League – 1st V 20th

Back to winning ways after getting knocked out of the cup and a game we won comfortably. Pleasing to be able to bounce back and put in such a good performance. Brown who got the opener in the 7th minute has really settled in and has begun to score more regularly and show his class.

Macclesfield – Away – League – 13th V 1st

A result in which felt like a defeat after we had come back from 1-0 down to lead 2-1 till the last few minutes. A fairly even game in which a draw was a fair result.

Margate – Home – League – 1st V 3rd

A good performance against a team who are chasing us down. A comfortable win and we looked the better team from start to finish. Brown getting 2 goals again and Brannan getting his second goal in the game also.

FC Halifax – Away – League – 23rd V 1st

A shocking second half performance seen us lose this game after we took the lead in the first half from Walters. Sesay got a goal in the 80th minute from a header from a corner but it was not enough.

FC United – Away – League – 2nd V 1st

A win in which we need to help keep our title chances alive. Could this be the game which means we win the league!? A quality performance from us against a poor FC United side who didn’t look up for the game with them only have 1 shot all game which wasn’t on target.

Results/Final Games

Inconsistency springs to mind. I would of liked to of got more points in these games than what we did. Happy overall but felt we could of played better in some games. I’m glad we got wins against the two teams trying to catch us but felt we should of got more against the teams struggling down the bottom of the table.

Remaining Games:

final games.png

The remaining games of the season sees us play some of the bigger clubs in this league and we need to play our best every game to ensure we finish top of the pile come the end of the season.

The table as it stands going in to the final 9 games. We could still finish in a play-off place if we drop one too many points. The gap to 3rd place is still so little and even down to 5th could cause us some problems if we are not careful.

I feel we are good enough to see the season out as champions but with how inconsistent we have been of late I am slightly nervous going in to the final run of games. I will be disappointed beyond belief if we some how bottle the title after we have looked the team to win in for a good part of the season. I have enjoyed this season at Crawley and can always rely on the boys to get back to winning ways if we lose a couple of games. With the gap we have over second place currently we basically have a free defeat over them. As I said I am disappointed to get knocked out of the cup which could of meant more money for the club but we can now turn our attention to the league.

Thanks for reading and I hope you are enjoying it!
