Devarn Green’s on fire, your defence is terrified!

Alright guys,

Welcome back to the latest update of our journey to the top with Tranmere. We are still in the first season and we are doing pretty well so far with the odd slip up which is expected at this level. Let’s see how we have got on in the last few games…

Southport – Away – League – 23rd V 4th

We started the game slowly which went from bad to worse when they scored in the 3rd minute. We seemed to get in to the game and once we was in our stride Southport had little answers. Cook conceded a penalty which our keeper saved but he redeemed himself with getting our equalizer. The boys did amazing to turn the game around but we thoroughly deserved the 3 points.

Guiseley – Home – League – 2nd V 18th

We started the game off fairly well but we conceded another penalty early in to the game which Guiseley dispatched. We got our equalizer a couple of minutes later thanks to a Jennings worldie from 30 yards and Green gave us the lead just before half time. Mullins put the game to bed in the 75th minute. A dominant performance form us this game.

Aldershot – Away – League – 3rd V 2nd

Another slow start form us and again another penalty we conceded but Turner saved it this time. A poor performance from start to finish and we was second best to everything all game. McNulty got himself sent off late on in the game with a stupid tackle ended our hopes of getting anything from the game.

Oliver Davies:

Pleased to get this deal completed as I had been trying to get it done for a couple of months but Oliver wasn’t interested or wanted a silly amount of money but we finally agreed on a deal and I’m delighted he has joined as I feel he will add something to the team and will grow with us and help us move forward as he is only 21 and can only improve. Side note he got injured a couple of days after and is out for two months!!

Lincoln – Home – League – 3rd v 4th

A good hard fought performance from us seen us get the win against a play-off rival. Green opened the scoring with a nice finish from inside the box in the 10th minute. We conceded a sloppy goal just after the half hour mark which was disappointing. Green gave us the lead just after half time which turned out to be the winning goal.

Omar Bogle:

Another deal I am pleased to have sealed. We have got Omar on loan until the end of the season. I was surprised he joined us as he usually goes to better teams in better leagues. I feel he adds that extra bit of quality in front of goal we miss every now and then. Solid signing who I hope can partner with Green and fire us up the league.

York – Away – League – 8th V 2nd

Shaw got himself sent off half way through the first half with a stupid tackle which he didn’t need to make which could of cost us getting anything from the game. Despite the stats saying we were the better team in reality York deserved more than what they got in this game. Cook got us back in to the game with around 20 minutes to go when we did look the much better team and we eventually got a point when Cook got his second and then Maynard scored from the edge of the box with minutes to go to get us a point from the game.

Sutton – Away – League – 13th V 3rd

Mullin got the opener with a tidy finish in the 26th minute but Sutton got back in the game with an equalizer minutes later after some sloppy defending from us. Green put is in the lead again not long after and we went in to half time in the lead. Sutton came out in the second half stronger than us and equalized in the 47th minute. We kicked on and re took the lead again when Mullin got his second of the game. Bogle came on for his debut with about 20 minutes to go and got a goal which wrapped up the win and Green secured the 3 points with his second goal in injury time.

season so far.png

Our season so far is decent and we are on course to have a successful season. We have lost only 2 of our 11 games and if we can continue that kind of form and iron the silly mistakes out we will be there or there abouts come the end of the season.

We come up against some big teams in our next few games which will be difficult. We also have a cup game coming up so hopefully we get an easier team and potentially go on a run and get some money in for the club.

We currently sit 3rd after our loss to Aldershot knocked us down a position and fall further behind leaders Forest Green. We have one of the best GD in the league which says a lot about us going forward but we are still making sloppy mistakes at the back which is costing us points.

Star Player

Something a bit different and something I think I might keep doing is a star player for the games in the blog update so the first star player of the blog is my favourite player in non league football – Devarn Green.

I love him and scores for fun at this level. He could easily play in the football league and hopefully he will with us next season!? He has scored 6 in the last 6 games and 10 in 11 so far this season. This boy is good! (He is on fire in a non blog save which I will tweet a picture of after this blog is out) Despite some of his stats looking poor he can finish and he can out run almost any defender which is a big plus at non league levels. I can not recommend him highly enough to you guys if you are in the lower leagues he will score goals.

Thanks for reading and I hope you are enjoying it!
