Welcome back to the latest update of our journey with Tranmere. We are nearly coming up to Christmas and the half way point of the season where hopefully we can push on in the second half and maintain our aim of promotion.
Woking – Home – League – 3rd V 18th
Green opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a tidy finish from inside of the box. Woking equalized in the 32nd minute when from a corner. A quiet second half meant the game end a draw and a disappointing result for us when we should of came away with the 3 points.
Frankie comes in on loan till the end of the season from Colchester as I felt we lacked depth and pace at the back which I feel he can solve that problem. He should be comfortable at this level and put in some solid performances for us.
Another position we lacked depth in was the full back positions and Callum comes in on a season long loan from Barnsley to provide that option for us.
Dagenham & Redbridge – Away – League – 8th V 3rd
A slow start from us saw Dagenham score in the 1st minute. Maynard equalized on the 20th minute when he out jumped their goalkeeper from a corner. Campbell-Young gave us the leas with his first goal just after half hour. Gorman got our third in the 61st minute with a missile from the edge of the box. Mullin secured the points with a brace before Dagenham tried to get back in the game late on but it wasn’t enough.
We got drawn away to Bradford Park Avenue in the 4th Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. A easier draw for us but a tough game at the same time.
Gateshead – Home – League – 3rd V 12th
We took the lead in the 3rd minute thanks to the main man Devarn Green. Kent doubled our lead on his debut then got injured later in the game. Evans got sent off in the second half with a second yellow. We got our third when Mullin took his chance in the 7th minute despite being down to 10 men.
Wrexham – Home – League – 2nd V 9th
Shaw got injured in the first couple of minutes which didn’t help our start to the game but we soon settled down when Green opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Devarn got his second of the game on the 61st minute to wrap up the points. Jennings gets sent off with 5 minutes to go but that didn’t affect the result.
Bradford Park Avenue – Away – FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round
A disappointing quiet first half with the only highlight of the game was our goal via Hughes from the edge of the box with 15 minutes to go. A boring game on the whole but happy to go through to the next round but felt we should of scored more.
A difficult draw but a potentially a win able game and a chance to progress in the cup. We also have home advantage which may help us.
Solihull Moors – Away – League – 23rd V 2nd
Bogle scored our first in the 34th minute when a nice header. Mullin scored late on to help secure the 3 points in what was a comfortable after we limited Solihull to 4 shots all game with only 1 on target.
North Ferriby – Home – League – 2nd V 24th
A shocking performance from us in a game where none of our players turned up saw North Ferriby leave with the 3 points. Their first goal came after our defence fell asleep they then secured the points with 5 minutes when they got through our defence again and slotted it past our keeper. Really angry with the lads with this performance. The stats show a fairly even game but North Ferriby deserved the win on our performance.
Dover – Away – League – 10th V 2nd
We scored in the 2nd minute thanks to Green taking an early chance from inside the box. Gorman got our second goal with a sweet finish from the edge of the box which went in the top corner. Dover got back in the game late on but it was not enough to get anything from the game. A deserved win and 3 points and a nice performance compared to last time out.
A good run of results for us apart from the odd blip is pleasing and to see our strikers scoring as well as goals coming from other players helping ease the pressure on them. Devarn Green is still the main goal scorer but Paul Mullin has contributed more lately which is pleasing to see.
A good run of form means we move up to second in the league 6 points behind Forest Green. There is a small gap forming between ourselves and Lincoln and Wrexham which is helpful for if we do go on a bad run of games. Still pushing for the top and going up as champions!
Upcoming fixtures see us go up against the teams around us as well as a couple of cup games which hopefully we can progress in and gain more income for the club. The game against Forest Green is of real importance and could potentially decide who wins the league.
The star player of this update is Paul Mullin who has improved over the last few weeks and has contributed to the team more of late. Devarn Green was up there for star player again but I am hopefully going to pick someone different each week. Paul has impressed me scoring 10 in 15 games this season and hopefully we can persuade him to stay. This is currently his best season to date. I was going to leave him on the bench for Bogle but Bogle hasn’t impressed really as much so far.
Thanks for reading and I hope you are enjoying this save!
