Picking Up Form?

Alright guys,

We are continuing to fight against being dragged in to a relegation scrap so early in the season as we struggle with life in League 2. We have played well in most of our games we just don’t have the results to show for it.

Hartlepool – Home – League – 20th V 14th

A quiet game on the whole with the only action resulting in a goal for us came just after half time. Nice build up play to Stewart on the edge of the box and he curls it in to the corner of the goal. A good performance and happy to see the game out.

Cambridge – Away – League – 10th V 18th

Ennis gets the one and only goal of the game in what was a fairly even game. Another game Stewart is involved in the action with him robbing the ball off one of their defenders and pulling it back to Ennis along the 6 yard line who taps it home.

Liverpool U’23’s – Home – Checkatrade Trophy

A great result against a strong Liverpool U23 side.  Harrop gets our first goal when he gets on the end of a whipped cross from Ennis and heads it in to the corner giving the keeper no chance. Noble-Lazarus gets the second of the game and wraps up the win after Clark plays him through and he slots it past the keeper at his near post.

Port Vale – Home – League – 14th V 13th

A game of two halves with the first half being boringly quiet and the second half having goals and a red card.  We get the opening goal 10 minutes in to the second half when Stewart plays the ball across the box to Ennis who was open to tap it home. We go down to 10 men a few minutes later when Shepherd gets a second yellow minutes after his first for a sloppy challenge. Bowditch gets a late equalizer for Port Vale after they split our defence and score from a rebound in to an open net.

Grimsby – Away – League – 22nd V 15th

A poor performance saw us lose to a struggling Grimsby. We get the opening goal of the game in injury time in the first half after a knock down from a corner falls to McLaughlin who smashes it past the keeper. The legend Emile Heskey equalizes minutes in to the second from a cross and our defence couldn’t deal with him. Grimsby get the winner with 5 minutes to go again from a cross we couldn’t deal with.

Cup Draw

A tough first round draw puts us up against League 1 Southend. Would of liked an easier game but we fight whoever we come up against. On our day we can beat them so let’s hope we turn up.

Oldham – Home – League – 16th V 19th

A boring game and a poor result against a team we really should of beaten. We controlled the game from start to finish but just couldn’t get the ball in to the back of the net. We did have a couple of good chances from Dowling and Ennis but they went straight at the keeper.

A mixed bag of results of late. We look a much harder team to beat in this formation but on the hand we struggle to create as many chances. We are still close to the relegation zone but we are a bit more comfortable. I know it’s early in the season and the media predicted us to be safe but at the moment we look like we our going to be in a fight to stay up although I feel we can do that with this team. We did sign a number of players in the summer and they are still settling in.

Thanks for reading.

      1. Ah okay cool doing well I like it! I really got in the mood for a Chelsea save yday after the FA cup game for a blog but think I’ll wait till fm18? Or maybe end of season when I have less content to write about what do you think?

      2. Yeah I thought about doing one with them as well lol. There is still time till FM18 so you could start one with them? Would be interesting how quickly you can win everything and bring in the best players.

  1. With Chelsea I don’t think I’d want to buy too much, they have a solid youth squad would only a few players to add I might start it after the season is over that way my premier blogs can be replaced by fm blogs for the summer so it stays consistent

    1. Yeah pal, that’s another option with them having so many younger players out on loan is not sign anyone and just play the the players you have when they come back. Would be interesting how well they can do.
