Fight For The Play Offs

Alright guys,

We are involved in a fight for the play-offs with about 6 or 7 teams which is a positive sign as I didn’t expect us to be that high up in our first season. I have had a couple of interviews with teams in higher leagues but have failed at the last hurdle and they appoint someone else. Will we be with Tranmere come the end of the season? I wouldn’t be unhappy if we was if we remain this competitive since we went back to our 4312 formation.

Carlisle – Home – League – 12th V 1st

A crazy opening 5 minutes saw us concede in the opening 30 seconds when our defence hadn’t woken up and conceded a sloppy goal and then they go down to 10 men after a nasty tackle. Ennis slots home after a lovely counter leading to Stewart playing him through one v one with the keeper. Ennis returns the favour with a cross from the by line to Stewart in the box who had time to control it and tuck it home.

Peterborough – Home – FA Cup 2nd Round

Ennis opens the scoring after reacting quickest to a save from the keeper which was pushed wide and fires it home from a tight angle. Ennis gets our second after he gets on the end of a 30 yard pass by Burgess and curling it past the keeper. Comley gets a straight red for a shocking two footed challenge.

Newcastle Under 23’s – Home – Checkatrade Trophy 2nd Round

A strong Newcastle side start the better and get the opening goal when Zabret couldn’t deal with a cross and the tap it in to the open goal. Linganzi doubles the lead for Newcastle when he heads in to his own goal from a corner. Ball gets us in to the game smashing it home from the penalty spot. Newcastle get their third slotting it past the keeper from inside the box. Essam heads home from a corner to keep us in the game. Ennis then pulls us level late on with a cool finish just inside the are rolling it in to the bottom corner. Burgess gives away a penalty in injury time which they convert by smashing it in to the top corner.

Barnet – Away – League – 16th V 12th

Ennis breaks the deadlock after a lovely one two with Ball and curling it in to the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Barnet had a good number of chances later on in the second half to take a share of the points but we did enough to hold on when we should of put the game to bed with the amount of chances we had.

Notts County – Home – League – 12th V 5th

Clarke-Harris gets the opening goal with a lovely finish slotting it under the keeper and in to the back of the net. Stead equalizes straight from their kick off after our defence had switched off and couldn’t get near him. Adams scores a worldie a couple of minutes in to the second half with a volley from outside of the box flying in to the top corner.

Forest Green – Away – League – 21st V 12th

Clarke-Harris fires in the opening goal past the keeper from the edge of the box after a nice through ball from Maxwell. Forest Green equalize 10 minutes later when we couldn’t clear our area and the capitalized on that and slotted it home. Forest Green get a second just before half time scoring from a free kick which went in to the top corner. Forest Green get their third of the game from the penalty spot which they put straight down the middle. They get their fourth when we pushed up and they countered and fired it past the keeper. Ball gets our second with a header on the 6 yard line from an Evans cross.

We have looked a much better team since we went back to our 4312 formation and look on course to finish up in the play offs and higher if we can go on a good run. Disappointed to lose to Newcastle and Forest Green as i felt we should of got something out of both of them games. Clubs are now offering me interviews and linking me to their clubs in the press but we will only move if the club is right. I am happy to stay here at Tranmere and continue are climb up the league and try and get promotion in the next couple of season. At one point during the Forest Green game we was as high as fourth and sitting pretty in the play offs but we bottled that game and fell back down to 12th. We have West Brom in the next round of the FA Cup which is slightly disappointing as I do like a good cup run but we are at home which hopefully we can bring in a big crowd and maybe be on TV and get some TV money to keep the club going.
