A Mad Cup Game!

Alright lads,

Welcome back as we prepare to go to West Brom in the FA Cup with a slim chance of beating them and progressing. We are still in a tight battle for a play off spot along with a good 7 or 8 teams. We are looking good to be in the play offs come the end of the season should we not slip up many more times before the end of the season.

West Brom – Away – FA Cup 3rd Round Replay

A great start as we shock the home side and score straight from kick off with Ennis laying it off to Clarke-Harris on the edge of the box and smashes it in to the top corner. We double our lead when Ennis controls the ball on the edge of the box and curls it in to the far corner. West Brom pull one back with a cross in to the box and Rondón stabbing it home. They equalize minutes later with Morrison heading in from a corner. Shephard gets our third. A short free kick to Shephard who fires it across the keeper in to the bottom corner. We get a fourth thanks to Clarke-Harris again by getting on the end of a Enobakhare whipped cross and slots it past the keeper. West Brom get their third with our defence not being able to handle Rondón who crosses to Leko who rises highest to head home. West Brom equalize again with a deflected shot rolling in to an empty goal. West Brom scoring a rebound from a penalty early in extra time to give them the lead. They then get a sixth with Morrison tapping in from a cross. Ennis gets our fifth with a cool finish from close range. Walsh gets our equalizer poking it past the keeper after Comley played him through. We missed two of our penalties as they beat us in the penalty shoot out.

Mansfield – Home – League – 12th V 13th

Enobakhare gives us the lead with a powerful finish from just inside the box giving the keeper no chance. Shephard gets our second of the game with Comley playing a ball to split the defence and Shephard curling it past the keeper. Enobakhare gets a second with a deflected shot looping over the keeper in to the back of the net. Mansfield pull one back with a whipped ball in to the box to Green who heads it in to the corner.

Newport – Away – League – 19th V 12th

Newport open the scoring when they tap it in at the near post after we couldn’t deal with the cross. Newport seal the win late on when a throw in gets nodded on and they poke it home in to an empty goal. They get a third in injury time after they countered us and slotted it past the keeper after being one v one with him. A poor but dominant performance from us as we did everything but put the ball in to the back of the net.

Blackpool – Home – League – 12th V 7th

A quiet first half with both teams cancelling each other out but we make the break through with Enobakhare getting the opening goal when we play a short corner to him on the edge of the box and he volleys it in to the bottom corner. Ennis doubles our lead minutes later and seals the 3 points when he curls it past the keeper.

Yeovil – Away – League – 19th V 12th

We get the opener with Clarke-Harris getting the goal when he gets on the end of an early ball in to the box from Ennis across the 6 yard line and taps it home. Ball gets our second after he reacts quickest to the keeper pushing a shot from Ennis wide and he’s there to roll it home.

Stevenage – Home – League – 8th V 12th

A tough game was made much harder early in the first half when Dowling gets shown a straight red for a two footed tackle which did deserve the red card. Despite being a man down we go in front shortly before half time thanks to Ennis who gets on the end of an early cross from Harrop and scores a diving header.

We are beginning to pick up our form again and are finally slowly moving up the league closer to those play off places. All but one of our next 6 games are against lower placed teams which will be tough as some of them are fighting relegation. We had a quiet January with no ins or outs and the only signings coming after deadline day with Trotter and Davies joining the club. Both which we have been after a while. We are still in talks with a couple more players who we can hopefully get over the line and bring in which will add to the experience the two new signings do.

Thanks for reading.
