Hello and welcome back to life at Leeds as we look to kick on and start picking up points again as our last few games have been far from perfect. We are still in a strong position and there is a long way to go yet but as I have said before the team looks far better than what it did when we took over last season. Let’s get back to some good form like we know we can and forget the past few games.
Sheffield Wednesday – Away – League – 2nd V 3rd
We get the opening goal late in the first half when McCormack sets up Cook to drill the ball in to the bottom corner. Lewis Cook gives away a penalty as he pushes a player over but is let off the hook as Pudil fires it straight at Silvestri. Cook is involved again as he turns provider as he whips the ball in to the back post for Gibson to head in. We win a penalty of our own and McCormack shows how it’s done by putting it in to the top corner. Barrow gets one back for Sheffield Wednesday as they counter and he uses his pace to beat everyone and slot it past the keeper.
Tranmere – Home – League – 2nd V 13th
A dominant performance from start to finish and we open the scoring after some lovely build up play with one touch passing before Tymon puts a low ball across the area for Abraham to slide in and poke home. We wrap up the win late on after Cook plays Olomola through to tuck it in to the bottom corner.
Preston – Away – League – 20th V 1st
A tight game but a one that we deserved to win as Preston stopped us from having any serious shots that threatened the scoreline and we didn’t get the winning goal until late in the second half when Olomola gets on the end of a whipped ball in from Tymon and fires it in in a crowd of players and the keeper getting a slight touch as it goes in.
Reading – Home – League – 1st V 15th
We get an amazing start when we score inside the first minute after Alexander-Arnold throws the ball short to Cook who squares it to Hendrick and smashes the ball in from 30 yards. We win a penalty when Alexander-Arnold is pushed over in the area and he steps up to take it and Joel dives to his right and pushes it away. We win another penalty when Wood is fouled at a corner, Abraham puts the ball on the spot and smashes it straight down the middle and in to the arms of the keeper. We do get a deserved second goal when Alexander-Arnold crosses to Abraham at the near post and flicks the ball in beating the keeper at his near post. Reading get a foot in the game when a cross falls to Williams in the area to slide it under the keeper. We bottle the lead and Reading get the equaliser when Okotie heads in from a corner.
Nottingham Forest – Away – League – 15th V 1st
A tough game against Forest but it was us that got the first goal of the game when Abraham puts his free kick beautifully in to the top corner from about 20 yards out. We get a second of the game and it’s Abraham again when he gets on the end of a cross from Tymon to head it through the keepers hands.
Brentford – Home – League – 1st V 17th
A good first half from us with Wood having the best chance of the half when he skies the ball from 6 yards out. We get the breakthrough goal 10 minutes in to the second half when Wright knocks a corner down to O’Kane to tuck home. Brentford get the equaliser in the dying seconds of the game when Jota plays Graham one v one with the keeper and he curls it past the keeper to get a share of the points.
We are sitting pretty at the top of the table after a good run of games which hopefully we can continue to do as we have some ‘easy’ games coming up which usually turn in to the games you lose. Tammy has looked a lot better and has been getting involved in the goals. We also lost Belhanda to injury for around 3 months which is why McCormack is getting more game time than what he normally would. Our performance against Tranmere was probably one of the most dominant games I have ever had with 30 shots compared to their one and over 60% possession. The league is still really close but we are slowly beginning to pull away from some of the teams in the top ten.
Just a quick update stats wise of a couple of players I am keeping my eye on to see how they are developing with regular game time.
As you can see they are both progressing really well and I will be looking to use them when they come back for pre season next season and we will see how they go from there.
Thanks for reading.
