Season 5 – The End

Welcome back to the finale of the FM17 journey as we end the season with Leeds. We have played well for the majority of the season and look on course to finish in the top six with ten games to go. Let’s get this season finished and see if we do get in to Europe.

Middlesbrough – Away – League – 11th V 3rd

Maupay gives us an early lead when he gets on the end of a cross from Ntcham to fire past the keeper. Maupay doubles our lead in the 20th minute when he drills the ball in to the bottom corner from 20 yards out. Ntcham gets our third after he fires the ball in to the top corner after Olomola plays him in on goal. We get a fourth minutes later when Ferri drives in to the area and curls it round the keeper. We concede a penalty minutes later which Rhodes steps up and tucks in to the corner. They get a second when we can’t clear a corner and Bernardo heads home.

Stoke – Home – League – 2nd V 15th

We take the lead in the second half when Maupay plays Olomola through on goal and he slides it under the on rushing Butland. Gomez gets out second goal when Davies whips a free kick in to the area and Gomez heads it in at the near post.

Tottenham – Away – League – 9th V 2nd

Tottenham take the lead when a ball is whipped in to Eriksen in the area to tap in at the near post. Olomola pulls us level 10 minutes later when he heads in a ball in to the area from Christie. Tottenham retake the lead when Bruma crosses to Keko at the back post who volleys it home. Eriksen makes it three after Kane knocks a corner down and Eriksen side foots it in to the corner.

Leicester – Home – League – 5th V 17th

We get a well deserved win against my beloved Leicester City but the goal didn’t come until late in the second half. The only goal of the game came when Armstrong plays a one two with Maupay on the edge of the area before drilling it past Zieler and in to the bottom corner.

Cardiff – Away – League – 19th V 4th

Clough gets the only goal of the game shortly before half time when he tucks the ball in past Mignolet at his near post. A shocking performance from us in front of goal as we threw everything at them including the kitchen sink but it wasn’t enough to get the much deserved goal.

Everton – Home – League – 4th V 10th

Everton take the lead which turned out to be the only goal of the game. The goal comes when they play a free kick out wide before the ball is put in to the area and Jahanbakhsh taps in on the 6 yard line. Another poor performance from us in front of goal and we had enough chances to get a point from the game at least but it never happened.

West Ham – Away – League – 9th V 5th

West Hame take an early lead after Hadergjonaj runs down the right before pulling the ball back to Valencia in the area to fire home. We finally score a goal and it comes after a shot from Christie is pushed away and falls in to the path of Maupay to tap in. West Ham retake the lead a minute later when Masuaku whips the ball in to the area and Valencia heads past Mignolet. Gomez pulls us level with a header at the near post from a corner. We then take the lead after we break away down the right before Christie squares it to Ferri who smashes it in to the top corner. A fourth follows minutes later when Olomola is played in on goal and tucks it under the keeper. We get a fifth of the game when a shot from Olomola smashes off the crossbar and rebounds off the back of the keeper and in to the back of the net. Valencia gets his hat trick after Feghouli whips an early ball in to the area and Valencia is there to pounce and tuck the ball home. Belhanda makes it six when the ball falls to him in the area to fire in to the bottom corner.

Manchester City – Home – League – 4th V 7th

Man City get the only goal in what was a very scrappy game which shows with the amount of yellow cards shown. They get the winner in the second half after Kuki crosses the ball to Vazquez in the area to poke the ball past Mignolet.

Liverpool – Away – League – 6th V 5th

We take the lead against the run of play when Olomola beats his defender before squaring it to Ntcham to tap in to an empty goal. Ntcham gets his second of the game after he gets the ball on the corner of the area and fires it across the keeper and it the far corner.

Fulham – Away – League – 19th V 4th

Lasagna gives Fulham the lead with a drilled effort from the edge of the area beating Mignolet. Ince gets their second of the game and wraps up the in late on. The goal comes after we pushed forward for an equalsier but Lasagna plays a ball over the top for Ince to chase before slotting it under the keeper.

So there we have it the season has ended and the journey has also ended. I am so so proud of the boys with how they performed this season and we finished above and beyond where I thought we would given it is our first season in the Premier League. We did manage to finish in the European places despite dropping a few points frustratingly towards the end and what an exciting season next season would be with them back in Europe. As I said before in the other blog about a big club coming for me, I did accept the job and it would of still been in England. The unnamed big club was.. Liverpool. They offered me the job which was an amazing offer and I would also be taking a number of my back room staff including my right hand man Brede, so who knows what would of happened had we had chance to carry this on! What a crazy journey we have had from bringing Tranmere up the leagues before a short stay at Derby in which we probably shouldn’t have took but that led us here and winning the Championship with this club and finishing in fifth place in the Premier League the following season. We also named manager of the season which was a nice added bonus at the end.

Season 5 – Beginning Of The End

Let’s crack on with the season and look to continue on the good form until the end of the season. We did manage to bring in a couple of players who will play a back up role and we did also sell a couple of players who had hardly played to bring in extra money. This is the last but one update of the journey with the finale coming out tomorrow. Sad to leave the save as it has been fun and we have a much better journey than what I thought right at the start of the save!

Liverpool – Home – League – 5th V 6th

Liverpool are the first to score and it is Diego Costa who gets the goal when the ball is put in to the area and he heads it down past Mignolet. We get the equaliser when Ferri plays a long ball over the top to Maupay to round the keeper and roll it home. Liverpool get the winner late on after Belotti slides in and pokes the ball past Mignolet.

Watford – Home – League – 6th V 11th

We take an early lead when Maupay plays Ferri in to smash the ball past the keeper. We get a second of the game in a bizarre way after a shot from Olomola is dropped by the keeper in to his own goal. Ighalo pulls one back for Watford before half time with a side footed finish from an OSborn cross.

Newcastle – Away – League – 5th V 6th

Newcastle get the opening goal when a ball in to the area from Deulofeu hits Gomez and flies in to the back of the net. A couple of minutes later and we are back on level terms after Olomola robs the ball off Lascelles before crossing to Maupay who volleys it past the keeper. We take the lead on half time when Ntcham makes a driving run in to the area before slotting it between the keepers legs. Deulofeu pulls Newcastle level with 10 minutes to go with a lovely curling effort from outside the area. We do get a late winner when Christie whips the ball along the 6 yard line for Maupay to tap in.

Southampton – Home – League – 6th V 9th

Ntcham gives us the lead in the second half after an even first half to the match. The goal comes after Maupay picks up a loose ball and squares it to Ntcham to fire in at the near post. We get a second goal after Ntcham plays Maupay in on goal and smashes the ball home and it goes through the keepers hands.

Newcastle – Home – FA Cup 4th Round

It took until the second half until we saw some action and it came from Newcastle who took the lead. Ayoze Perez runs down the right before squaring it to Wijnaldum who is free in the area to fire home. We did everything we could to force a goal but it wasn’t enough from a slightly rotated side and we did deserve something from the game.

West Brom – Away – League – 18th V 5th

Olomola gets the only goal of the game in the 37th minute when a high cross in to the area is misjudged by Areola leaving Olomola to head in to an empty net. A good performance against a solid West Brom side who could of nicked a point when Rondon failed to score when one v one.

Crystal Palace – Home – League – 5th V 11th

Sakor gives us the lead and his first of the season when Olomola squares it to Sakor on the edge of the area to rifle it past the keeper. We get a second of the game when Gomez whips the ball in to the area for Maupay to head home past the keeper. Palace do get a goal back when a corner is headed on to Feddal at the back post to tap in.

Arsenal – Away – League – 3rd V 4th

We get the opening goal inside 10 minutes after Maupay plays Ntcham in to drive through the defence and fire the ball in to the bottom corner. We do get a second goal of the game and it came late on and we wrap up the points. Olomola crosses to Armstrong at the near post and fires across the keeper in to the far corner.

Manchester United – Home – League – 3rd V 1st

Manchester United get off to the perfect start when they score inside 30 seconds. Straight from kick off Coman runs down the right before whipping the ball in to Griezmann to flick the ball in at the near post. Christie concedes a penalty minutes later but Mignolet saves it by diving to his left. Griezmann does get his second goal a couple of minutes later when Alba sqaures the ball to him and he fires the ball past Mignolet. We get a penalty of our own early in the second half after Goretzka gets his second yellow and Ntcham fires it straight down the middle. We get the equaliser just after the hour mark when Armstrong pulls the ball back to Maupay to tuck it home past De Gea.

I don’t think we will be relegated this season like what everyone thought at the beginning of the season! What a crazy last couple of games where we finally beat Arsenal and got a share of the points against champions elect United after they made a flying start to the game before going down to 10 men. Despite our continued good form it is still so so close for the top 6/7 positions. I never thought we would still be this high up and competitive let alone beating teams like Chelsea and Arsenal! We did have the usual youth intake and as usual it was pretty rubbish which would looked to continue improving had we had time to carry on the journey.

Season 5 – Europe At Christmas?

Welcome back to our last season of the journeyman on FM17. I am hoping we can get back to winning ways after a couple of poor results in the last few games. We do have some winnable games coming up as well as playing the likes of Chelsea and Man City. We are coming up to the transfer window and we may look to bring in a player or two if we can find the right player. Could we get in to Europe in our final season and miss out on teams from around Europe coming to Elland Road??

Cardiff – Home – League – 7th V 15th

A boring first half with the only action coming just before half time when we take the lead. We get the opening goal when Gibson plays the ball out wide to Chilwell who whips the ball low in to the area for Ntcham to tap in. Cardiff get an equaliser and get a share of the points when Phillips heads a free kick past Mignolet at his near post.

cup draw

Everton – Away – League – 16th V 7th

We take the lead after we break away down the left and Chilwell crosses to Ntcham on the penalty spot to fire past the keeper. We double our lead shortly before half time with Ferri drilling the ball in to the bottom corner from 12 yards. Everton get in the game on the hour mark when Pjaca goes on a solo run and beats three defenders before slotting it under the keeper.

West Ham – Home – League – 6th V 7th

We open the scoring in the 15th minute when Maupay slides Olomola in to tuck the ball under the keeper. We double the lead when Maupay beats the defender to the ball before pulling it back to Olomola to fire home. Olomola gets his hat trick before half time after Christie crosses the ball in to the area for him to tap in from a yard out. We win a penalty in injury time which Maupay fires in to the bottom corner.

Man City – Away – League – 7th V 6th

We take a well deserved lead early in the second half when Ferri whips a corner in to the area which gets cleared to Ntcham on the edge of the area to fire through a group of players and in to the net. Man City equalise when Koke curls the ball in to the top corner from outside the area. They get the winner with Alli smashing the ball in to the bottom corner after some poor defending.

Cheslea – Home – League – 6th V 4th

We take the lead against Chelsea with Ntcham getting our goal when he plays a one two with Ferri before firing it across the keeper and in to the far corner. We get a second goal when Hendrick smashes the ball in to the top corner from 30 yards. They pull one back when Hazard puts a low ball in to the near post for Icardi to tap in. They equalise minutes later when Willian plays Hazard in to curl past the keeper. We retake the lead early in the second half after Maupay slots the ball under the keeper. We secure the points late on when a free kick is flicked on to Gomez to head home.

Fulham – Home – League – 6th V 15th

We open the scoring after some good build up play before Ferri plays Maupay in to smash the ball home past the keeper at his near post. Chilwell gets our second with a tidy finish from inside the area as he puts the ball across the keeper. Fulham get in the game before half time as Ince puts a deep cross in to the area for Lasagna to head home. They equalise seconds in to the second half and get a share of the points as Lasagna rises highest to head a cross past the keeper.

Exeter – Home – FA Cup 3rd Round

Armstrong puts us in front as expected when he turns and curls the ball in to the corner from inside the area. We get a second when a defender tries to switch the ball across the area but Friedli robs the ball and taps it home. Perez makes it three with a free kick that beats the wall and squeezes in to the top corner despite the keeper getting a hand to it.

Bournemouth – Away – League – 20th V 6th

We take the lead late in the first half against a struggling Bournemouth side when Olomola plays a one two with Ntcham and fires home on the volley. We get a second and wrap up the win when a shot from Christie smashes off the post and rebounds off Szczesnny’s back and rolls in to an empty goal.

We have looked much better in the last few games and the results have shown that as we look to hold our in the top six. A massive result against a good Chelsea side who we are fighting in the top 6 has really shown how far the lads have come since the opening day of the season. Could we really get Leeds in Europe in the our first season in the Premier League. I do feel though that we are only sixth as teams like Man City, Tottenham and Liverpool have started slowly and are playing catch up. Ntcham and Olomola have also stepped up their games in recent weeks and has been pleasing to see them play and make a difference to win games. On a side note if we had carried on for another season which I may do offline from time to time then we may not be here at Leeds as we have been contacted by a big club to be their manager. Sad that this is the last season but has been one of the best and we will continue to fight in the final half of the season.

Season 5 – Playing The Big Boys

Aright and welcome back to the blog as we look to continue our good form from the last few games. We have come back to the Premier League and have looked more than good enough in the early games to be sure that we can stay up in what is our final season of the blog for FM17. We do have some tough games coming up which will really test us and see how we match up against the bigger teams. We have had a much better start than what I expected but these next few games are the ones I have been dreading but excited for at the same time!

Manchester United – Away – League – 1st V 8th

United take the lead against the run of play in the first half. Pogba plays a long ball over the top to Griezmann who fires it in to the bottom corner. They double their lead early in the second half after we lose the ball in their half and they break down the left before Mata is free in the area to slot home. We give away a penalty which Layun steps up and puts in to the top corner.

Arsenal – Away – EFL Cup 4th Round

A disappointing result and performance from a much rotated side. Arsenal get the opening goal when Asano gets on the end of a cross and glances in a header at the near post. Asano gets his second when they break down the left and Asano has time in the area to curl it in to the bottom corner. They make it three when the ball falls to Prudhomme in the area to smash past the keeper. Asano gets his hattrick after he gets past the defence and lobs the keeper from the edge of the area.

Middlesbrough – Home – League – 10th V 17th

Olomola breaks the deadlock with a cool finish from inside the area after Belhanda plays him in on goal. We get a second when Gomez flicks a corner on to Hendrick to head in at the back post. They get a goal back after Schlupp whips a ball in to Barkley in the area who volleys it home. We get a third and wrap up the points with Ferri squaring the ball to Armstrong in the area to curl it home from just inside the area. We score a fourth late on when Belhanda crosses to Armstrong to volley a rocket past the keeper.

Stoke – Away – League – 11th V 6th

Stoke get off to the perfect start when Ings puts them one nil up in the first minute with a side footed effort past Mignolet. We get the equaliser after Maupay puts a ball in to the back post for Olomola to slide in and tuck it home. Stoke retake the lead when Muto slides the ball under an onrushing Mignolet. We pull level again with Maupay playing Chrsite in on goal to fire past Butland at his near post. We take the lead minutes later when Olomola drills the ball in to the bottom corner from outside the area. Stoke get a late equaliser when Muto out jumps Mignolet to head in to an empty goal.

Tottenham – Home – League – 5th V 15th

We take an early lead when Ntcham fires in to the top corner from the edge of the area. They pull level when Kane smashes the ball home from 30 yards out. Kane puts them in front when he curls the ball past the keeper when in one v one with Mignolet. We draw level early in the second half when Olomola plays a one two with Ntcham before slotting past the keeper. Kane gets his hattrick when he scores from a tight angle after a free kick was taken short to him. We concede a penalty but Mignolet stands tall to save it from Harry Kane. They do get a fourth and it’s Kane again with a header at the back post from a corner.

Leicester – Away – League – 20th V 7th

We take the lead in a dull game after a shot from Ferri takes a deflection off Maupay to wrong foot the keeper and fly in to the back of the net. They gave us no real problems in front of goal until Leicester did get an equaliser late in injury time and its Vardy with the goal after he slides it under the keeper to get a share of the points.

Well what a poor few games that has been. We have dropped far to many points in them as we do look to lack that extra bit of quality at times in games. The loss to Arsenal was expected as I rotated as much as I could and wanted to concentrate on the league. We looked the better side against United until they got their second and then our heads dropped and they finished us off. Dropping points at Stoke and Leicester hasn’t been good enough and could hurt us late on but so far we have always been able to bounce back to an extent from defeats which is a positive for the lads. We are sitting just outside a place for Europe with thirteen games gone and should we stay in and around it with the likes of Tottenham and Man City having slow starts we could rob the final spot come the end of the season.

Season 5 – Back In The Big Time

Alright lads,

Welcome back to the blog as we start the season against Chelsea. We have brought in a couple more players before the window shut and we should be okay now should we not get any serious injuries before January. We have a tough opener but after the Chelsea game we have some good opportunities to pick up some good points before we play the likes of Arsenal and Man united in a few weeks.

Chelsea – Away – League – 4th V 8th

Chelsea take the lead after a tight opening 25 minutes. The goal comes when Willian beats his man down the right before putting a high ball in for Mandzukic to head in. They double their lead after Gomez clears the ball straight to Willian who whips it back in to Mandzukic who fires in off the underside of the crossbar. Mandzukic gets his hat trick when they play a free kick short to Ounas who puts a low ball across the area for Mandzukic to poke home.

Bournemouth – Home – League – 10th V 7th

We get off to the perfect start when we take the lead inside 30 seconds. The goal comes after we attack from the off and Maupay plays Belhanda in on goal to tuck past the keeper. We get a second when Hendrick turns on the edge of the area and curls it into the far corner. We make it three inside half hour when Targett puts the ball across the six yard line and Christie makes a late run at the back post to tap in. Wilson gets one back for Bournemouth when he out runs our defence and rifles it into the top corner.

Oxford – Away – EFL Cup 2nd Round

We take the lead when a corner is headed clear to Hendrick who has a shot on goal but Wright is in the way to wrong foot the keeper and pokes it in. Oxford go down to ten men when Law gets a second yellow for a late tackle. Oxford get an equaliser in injury time when a cross to the far post falls to Hall to smash in. We get the winner to progress in the cup when Armstrong heads in at the near post.

cup draw

Watford – Away – League – 20th V 12th

We open the scoring inside 5 minutes after Maupay breaks away down the right before passing to Olomola to fire low past the keeper. Watford pull level shortly before half time when Ighalo runs down the right and puts a low ball across to Lucas Moura at the back post to tap home. We retake the lead on the hour mark when Maupay heads a ball from Christie in to the back of the net. Watford get a share of the points after they break and Deeney is left open in the area to fire past the keeper.

Newcastle – Home – League – 12th V 2nd

Olomola gives us the lead early on when Maupay chips the ball over the defence to Olomola to slide the ball under the keeper. We get a second when Newcastle can’t clear the ball and Maupay puts it back in to the area for Christie to head home. Maupay the provider again when Belhanda plays Maupay down the right before he pulls it back to Olomola to fire home his second of the game.

Southampton – Away – League – 17th V 6th

We continue our run of good starts as we take the lead in the 20th minute. A corner is nodded down to Hendrick who squares it to Ntcham to smash in to the top corner. We score a second and again it comes from a corner as the ball is played to Wright who controls the ball and lays off Ntcham to fire home through a group of players. We make it three before half time as the ball is played out wide to Christie who whips the ball in for Maupay to poke in. Southampton pull one back when we can’t clear the ball and Zahavi puts it through the keepers legs.

Sheffield Wednesday – Away – EFL Cup 3rd Round

A dull game with hardly any chances for either team until we get the only goal of the game in the second half. We get the winner when a corner is headed clear out to Sakor who squares it to Perez to rifle through a group of players and in to the bottom corner to help us progress in the cup.

cup draw 2

West Brom – Home – League – 6th V 13th

We take the lead in a tight opening half when Ferri plays the ball between two defenders to Olomola to tuck it under the keeper. We double our lead as Armstrong breaks away down the right before putting a low ball in to Olomola to slide in and poke it home.

Crystal Palace – Away – League – 16th V 3rd

We win a penalty just before the half hour mark and Belhanda steps up and smashes it in to the top corner to put us in front. Palace peg us back late on when a free kick smashes the crossbar and Sturaro reacts quickest and taps it in to an empty goal to take a share of the points.

Arsenal – Home – League – 4th V 3rd

Arsenal take an early lead when Mignolet comes to punch a corner clear but misses leaving Borja free to head in to an empty goal. That turned out to be the only goal of the game as Arsenal defended for the rest of the game after scoring their goal and we couldn’t get the breakthrough to get a draw as their keeper was on form. A better performance against a big team as we held our own and deserved more than what came out of it.

What a start we have had! 4 wins in our first 8 and we have played Chelsea and Arsenal. We should of got wins against Watford and Palace and could of possibly got a result against Arsenal as they parked the bus after they went in front. We have started far better than what I thought we would as I thought we would struggle let alone win comfortably and look like a solid Premier League team. I know this kind of form won’t last forever so the quicker we pick up points then the better chance we have of beating the drop quicker. I am also pleased to get Chilwell in for fairly cheap at £1.5 Million as I know he can perform at this level and is a player I rate IRL. We have Arsenal in the cup next which we may rotate players in and Manchester United and Tottenham in the league over the next few weeks.

Season 4 – End Of The Season

Alright lads,

We are coming to the end of the season with only eight games to go and we have a strong chance to be champions and we could do it sooner rather than later if we win the next couple of games. One player who has left is Tammy who has gone to America and we may live to regret that but Armstrong has come in and done a much better job in a shorter time. Hopefully we can wrap up the league in the next couple of games so we can relax just that little bit more. With the season coming to an end we have been scouting players and spoke to a few regarding joining for next season. Can we win the league or will we bottle it..?

Bristol City – Home – League – 1st V 5th

A dominant but poor performance from us in terms of being able to break the deadlock despite having a number of good chances to get the win. Bristol came to defend and did very well to keep us out for 90 minutes. Our best chances of the game from a corner when a header from Wright gets cleared off the line and Cook hitting the woodwork from the edge of the area.

Ipswich – Away – League – 7th V 1st

A much better performance than last game and we did manage to get a goal which turned out to be the only goal of the game. We made a great start and Hendrick gets our goal when the ball is played out wide to Tymon who cuts inside and fires it past the keeper. Another game where we missed a number of chances to wrap up the win which isn’t like us usually so I am hoping that will soon change.

Wycombe – Home – League – 1st V 22nd

We take a well deserved in the second half after we kept knocking at the door in the first half. We get the goal just after the half hour mark when Sakor has a shot saved from inside the area and he follows it up to tap it past the keeper. We concede a penalty late on when Gibson pulls Akilu’s shirt and Akilu scores by putting it in to the top corner and takes a share of the points.

Aston Villa – Away – League – 7th V 1st

They take the lead when a cross is put in to the front post and Bunz is free to head past the keeper. We get the equaliser in the second half after the ball falls to Armstrong in the area and curls it in to the far corner. We turn the game around and take the lead in injury time when Gray plays Armstrong in on goal to tuck past the keeper.

champions

budget

MK Dons – Home – League – 1st V 24th

We get the opening goal when Armstrong scores from the tightest of angles past the keeper with a side footed effort. We win a penalty shortly before half time when King was pushed over and Alexander-Arnold steps up and fires it in to the bottom corner. Hendrick gets our third to put the game to bed when a corner causes a scramble in the area and Hendrick pokes it home. MK Dons do pull one back with a headed finish from a corner but it wasn’t enough.

Brighton – Away – League – 19th V 1st

A dominant first half performance and we take the lead just after the 30th minute. Our goal came from Hendrick when he plays a one two with Olomola and drills it along the floor in to the corner. We win a penalty when Olomola is pushed over but the keeper saves Armstrong’s shot. He makes up for his penalty miss when he gets on the end of a Alexander-Arnold cross to flick it in at the near post. Brighton pull one back with an effort from 20 yards flying in to the top corner with the keeper getting a slight hand to it. We make it three when Armstrong squares it to Ponce to curl in from the edge of the area.

Cardiff – Home – League – 1st V 6th

We take the lead early in the second half which turns out to be the only goal of the game when Olomola gets the ball up and over the wall and puts his free kick in to the top corner. Cardiff had a chance to come away with a share of the points but Grigg misses an open goal late on. We also gave debuts to Ball and Byram who both played well.

Fulham – Away – League – 2nd V 1st

Fulham take the lead with a low ball put in to the area and Avenatti is there to tap it home by putting it through the keepers legs. We wasn’t behind for long when Ponce beats his defender and smashes it in to the back of the net. Hendrick puts us in front when the ball is headed clear from a cross and he volleys it in to the top corner from 25 yards. They go down to ten men after Johansen gets a second yellow for a late tackle and we see out the game.

CHAMPIONS! We won the league comfortably in the end despite poor games against Bristol and Wycombe with us looking average and dropping points. We had a tough final few games but we won all of our last five games to end on a high. We dominate nearly every game we play but we do lack that clinical finishing in some games which does get frustrating but were the best team on the whole in the league and deserve to get promotion. We have agreed to sign a few players who I will show below and I feel they will improve the squad and give us a better chance of surviving in the Premier League next season. We have to buy smart this summer as it is going to be a massive test next season playing against some of the best teams in the world.

Simon Mignolet – 4.5 Million

Toni Trbuhovic – 2 Million

We have so far signed 6 players who are of a better quality than we already have at the club. We may have overpaid for an aging Mignolet but he has Premier League experience and should be good enough for us for another year or two. I am also pleased to get Ferri and Ntcham in for fairly cheap after we had been tracking them for months trying to persuade them to join us which they eventually did.

Season 4 – Keeping The Run Going

Right let’s kick on and carry on with the season as we are nearly at the end of the season and looking good to finish as champions. We have looked much better and like the old us in the last few games which is great to see considering the bad run of games we had. The transfer window closed and we didn’t bring anyone else in but a couple of players have been sold since then and the one big transfer is Tammy Abraham potentially leaving to join LA Galaxy for 7 million and the only reason hes being sold is he came to my office and told me he wanted to leave and asked if I would let him go and I agreed and that he would get more game time somewhere else.

 Sheffield Wednesday – Home – League – 1st V 3rd

We open the scoring in the 20th minute when Ponce robs the ball on the edge of his own area and hits it route one up to Armstrong to curl it past the keeper. Armstrong doubles our lead and his goals for the day seconds in to the second half after a one two with Ponce and places it in to the corner. They pull one back with Barrow beating the keeper at the near post from a very tight angle. We win a penalty just before the hour mark and McCormack steps up and smashes it past the keeper.

Tranmere – Away – League – 18th V 1st

A dull game in terms of highlights but a dominant one for us stats wise and a game where Tranmere offered nothing in terms of a threat to our goal. It was a dull game apart from the 22nd minute when they only goal of the came. The goal came when Alexander-Arnold beats a defender and squares the ball to Armstrong on the 6 yard line to tap home and get the 3 points against our old club.

Preston – Home – League – 1st V 19th

Lewis Cook breaks the deadlock when a ball put in to the area from Tymon is headed out and Cook drills it first time past the keeper and in to the bottom left corner. We double our lead when Cook plays a ball over the top to Abraham after their defender misses the ball and Tammy tucks it past the keeper. Another comfortable game and continuing  picking up 3 points.

Reading – Away – League – 10th V 1st

A tight game was changed early in the second half . We take the lead when Alexander-Arnold breaks away down the right before whipping a ball into Armstrong to head home. Reading equalise a few minutes later when Stepinski puts a ball in to the back post for Williams to tuck in unmarked. We retake the lead with Abraham slots the ball under the keeper after Hendrick squares the ball to him just inside the area. Onomah makes it three with a lovely solo run in to the area before side footing it into the bottom corner. Abraham makes it four when the keeper doesn’t come for the ball and pokes it past him. We go down to ten men late on when Gibson gets a second yellow but the points were already ours.

Nottingham Forest – Home – League – 1st V 16th

Nottingham Forest take the lead early on after an awful mistake from us when Adarabioyo heads the ball back to no one and Assombalonga robs the ball to round the keeper and roll it home. We get the equaliser when Belhanda picks out Hendrick on the edge of the area from a corner and fires it in to the top corner. We get the winner late on after their keeper spills a cross in to the feet of McCormack to roll home.

Brentford – Away – League – 9th V 1st

We take the lead in a tight first half when Walker-Peters plays a low ball across the goal and Armstrong slides in to poke it home. Brentford pull level when Hogan beats his defender and gets on the end of a cross to head past Silvestri at his near post. Brentford go in front when again Hogan beats a defender and smashes it past the keeper from the corner of the area. We get the equaliser when their defender miss times a header leaving Armstrong one v one with the keeper and tucks it under him. We take the lead late on after a powerful shot from Sakor smacks the back of Dean and flies in to the back of the net.

Youth Intake

intake

So close yet so far away! We have eight games to go from being crowned champions of the league and being promoted in to the Premier League for next season. We have looked a quality side for the majority of the season and fully deserve going up BUT we could still bottle it and not get promotion which is a risk I am not willing to take so we will take it one game at a time. We had youth intake day which was shocking and we only had one decent player coming out of it who may get in to the first team. Adam Armstrong has been a class above since coming in and in terms of goals and has really helped us kick on and secure our place in the league.
