Hey guys,
Welcome back to my blog as we begin the season with Crawley. We are one of the favourites to be up there and fighting for promotion. The team needs time to gel as nearly all of them have joined in the summer as I had to rebuild completely. I am hoping for a good season and feel we can potentially do something with this team. Lets get on with the season away at Torquay.
Torquay – Away – League – 21st V 4th
A tough game to kick off our season but we got a point from what was a fairly even game. Pleased to get something from the opening game.
Dover – Home – League – 9th V 7th
An early goal from us in what was a strong half for us looked like we would get the win until Dover equalized with around 20 minutes to go. We really should of won this game.
Forest Green – Away – League – 6th V 13th
We scrapped the win in what was a hard fought game. Montgomery got his first goal for us which also gave us our first win of the season. A good performance from us seen us over come Forest Green.
Gateshead – Home – League – 7th V 8th
A boring 0-0 game which was a real even game where either team took a chance they probably would of got the 3 points.
Side Note
We now have Sunderland as an affiliate club. We may look to bring in a player on loan in the future if we feel they can add something to our squad. Pleased to be able to link up with a club with high standard facilities.
Tranmere – Home – League – 9th V 20th
We conceded early in the game but it we replied fairly quickly after their goal. A quality performance seen us beat a struggling Tranmere side.
Deadline Day
Eusebio Brancessi:
We bring in Eusebio on loan till the end of the season from Wolves. I feel he adds something on the wings and that is pace. He has some good base stats that we can work and hopefully improve him which will only help us while he is here.
Billy Whitehouse:
Billy has come in from Doncaster on loan for an initial 3 months. Should he impress we will try and get him to stay till the end of the season. He is another player I feel helps add something to our wings.
Andre Brown:
Andre is another player to join on loan till the end of the season. He helps bolster our attacking options and may try and partner him up top with Walters. A good signing in my opinion.
Chester – Away – League – 8th V 6th
A game of two halves for us, the first seen us go in at half time with a solid lead and second half we seemed to take our foot of the pedal. We was the much better team in performance and controlled the game despite what the stats show.
Bromley – Away – League – 7th V 4th
We opened the scoring just before half time. Disappointed not to get the win but happy to come away with a point. Annoyed with conceding the goal which was purely sloppy defending.
Sutton United – Home – League – 4th V 20th
A dominant performance from us this game against a difficult team to break down. Thoroughly deserving with our performance.
Woking – Home – League – 2nd V 9th
We looked like a deer in headlights when we played Woking which was shown on TV funnily enough (BT I assume..) A shocking performance from us seen us lose our first game of the season. We did seem to do just enough to keep up with them and only lose by the one goal. I felt we should of got something from this game.
Nantwich – Away – League – 22nd V 5th
A slow start from us seen us concede practically from kick off. It took us a while to get going but once we did there was no stopping us. A better performance second half seen us take the win.
Macclesfield – Home – League – 3rd V 22nd
A dominant win from us in what was a pretty one sided game. We thoroughly deserved the win. I thought Macclesfield would offer more of a threat but that never came.
Halifax – Home – League – 3rd V 20th
An early goal from us steered us to a victory against Halifax. Another good performance from us seen us pick up another win.

A solid start from us in which we have started the season better than what I thought we would considering the amount of players we have signed and they have not had long to gel and learn the tactics. We do have a FA cup qualifying round game coming up which would be nice to win and progress in and potentially get a ‘big’ club at our place. Taking every game as they come as this league is tough and can’t expect to beat the smaller teams.
Table
After 12 games we sit second. Kidderminster look like the team to beat currently and we play them in a month or so which won’t be an easy game. Pleased to see us so competitive early in the season and hopefully we can build on this good start and continue to fight for promotion.
Stats
Lewis Walters has contributed to our good start with scoring 8 goals with Brown scoring 4 in about as many games having joined on deadline day. Brindley has impressed me at right back which I was kind of expecting. Hopefully we can keep him for as long as we can.
Season so far…
I really can’t believe we have started so strongly as I have said before. Maybe we are better than what I thought. In the beginning we was struggling to take our chances but in the last few games we are taking them which is picking up the wins we need to get promotion. I can’t fault a single one of the lads who have played for us so far, they have all done amazingly. If we can continue in this form then we will be a real force to be reckoned with but I can’t see us keeping this form up for the remainder of the season. I did try and bring in a couple more players but for one reason or another we couldn’t get them done but we move on and stick with what we have and I know I can trust them to put a shift in. Having gone 12 games and only losing one is pleasing as we have already played some strong teams.
