Alright lads,

After a tough few games where we have lost points we are looking to turn our results around and start winning again. The transfer window is open and we have signed players who can hopefully help us push on. We should have some winnable games coming up to hopefully get us going again and back to what we should be doing on a regular basis. Belhanda has probably been the star of the season as he sits just behind the strikers assisting goals and popping up with his own goal from time to time.

Sunderland – Home – League – 2nd V 9th

It wasn’t until the second half until we saw a goal and it came from Sunderland. Fraser whips the ball in to Wilson who flicks the ball on the Khazri at the back post to tap in. We reply almost instantly with a beautiful free kick from Belhanda which curls in to the top corner. We take the lead when Belhanda plays Armstrong in on goal to slide the ball under the keeper to score on his debut. Sunderland get a share of the points after Wood loses the ball in their area and they counter before Khazri pulls it back for Wilson to fire home.

Barnsley – Away – League – 19th V 4th

We take an early lead against Barnsley which turned out to be the only goal of the game. Tymon puts a low ball in to the area from the left and Armstrong is free to pass it in to the back of the net. We had a number of chances to put the game to bed and wrap up the points with the best coming from Olomola when he smashes the ball against the inside of the post.

Wolves – Home – League – 2nd V 17th

We get the win against a struggling Wolves side. We take the lead after Armstrong pulls the ball back to Belhanda on the edge of the area to drill in to the top corner. We get a second and wrap up the win when Armstrong breaks away down the left and crosses to O’Kane who side foots it past the keeper and in to the bottom corner.

Burnley – Away – League – 14th V 1st

We take an early lead when a shot from Cook inside the area takes a massive deflection and rolls in to the goal after the keeper was wrong footed. Cook gets his second of the game when Belhanda puts a free kick in to the 6 yard line and Cook heads it in to the far corner clipping the post on the way in. We get a third and it’s Cook with his hat trick after a corner is headed down and he drills it past the keeper. Burnley get in to the game when Clayton volleys the ball in to the top corner from outside the area. We give away a penalty late on when Gibson slides in late on one of their players but Silvestri dives to his right and pushes it away. From that penalty save we break up the other end and Armstrong curls it past the keeper.

Blackburn – Home – League – 1st V 10th

A quiet first half became a lively second as we score 3 within 20 minutes. We open the scoring with about 10 minutes to go when a shot from Olomola is deflected and rolls in to the back of the net. We get a second when Alexander-Arnold has a cross hit the back of a defender and fall to Armstrong on the penalty spot to slot past the keeper. Onomah makes it three in the dying seconds when he makes a late run in to the area and smashes the ball home.

Derby – Away – League – 13th V 1st

Derby take the lead inside 20 minutes after Johnson floats a ball in to the area and Xisco rises highest to head in. They get a second when an early ball is put in to the area and Ambrose is at the near post to flick in. We pull one back when Hendrick plays a long ball over the top for Armstrong to run on to and tuck past the keeper. Derby get a third straight from the kick off after Tymon gets beat and the ball crossed in to Ambrose to fire in at the far post. Armstrong gets a second after a scramble in the area from a corner and he reacts quickest to poke it under the keeper. We get the equaliser when Hendrick plays Armstrong in again to curl past the keeper and get a share of the points.

A much better run of games from us and we are back top of the league. Armstrong has done wonders since arriving and he now looks like our go to man up top. We tried our other tactic out against Derby with new signing Gray ( <3) playing and it did work to an extent but maybe it needed tweaking as we were away and I will look to use it again. We signed Gray for a million and I couldn’t resist at that price as I feel that is a bargain for a player like him. We have a signed a Danish midfielder on a free and he has gone straight out on loan to get some game time and hopefully improve. We also sign King from Leicester for under a million and we did lack a player in the middle. We have some more winnable games coming up and should we keep building on our recent run of results then hopefully we can build on our gap to second place.
