Alright lads,

We are coming to the end of the season with only eight games to go and we have a strong chance to be champions and we could do it sooner rather than later if we win the next couple of games. One player who has left is Tammy who has gone to America and we may live to regret that but Armstrong has come in and done a much better job in a shorter time. Hopefully we can wrap up the league in the next couple of games so we can relax just that little bit more. With the season coming to an end we have been scouting players and spoke to a few regarding joining for next season. Can we win the league or will we bottle it..?

Bristol City – Home – League – 1st V 5th

A dominant but poor performance from us in terms of being able to break the deadlock despite having a number of good chances to get the win. Bristol came to defend and did very well to keep us out for 90 minutes. Our best chances of the game from a corner when a header from Wright gets cleared off the line and Cook hitting the woodwork from the edge of the area.

Ipswich – Away – League – 7th V 1st

A much better performance than last game and we did manage to get a goal which turned out to be the only goal of the game. We made a great start and Hendrick gets our goal when the ball is played out wide to Tymon who cuts inside and fires it past the keeper. Another game where we missed a number of chances to wrap up the win which isn’t like us usually so I am hoping that will soon change.

Wycombe – Home – League – 1st V 22nd

We take a well deserved in the second half after we kept knocking at the door in the first half. We get the goal just after the half hour mark when Sakor has a shot saved from inside the area and he follows it up to tap it past the keeper. We concede a penalty late on when Gibson pulls Akilu’s shirt and Akilu scores by putting it in to the top corner and takes a share of the points.

Aston Villa – Away – League – 7th V 1st

They take the lead when a cross is put in to the front post and Bunz is free to head past the keeper. We get the equaliser in the second half after the ball falls to Armstrong in the area and curls it in to the far corner. We turn the game around and take the lead in injury time when Gray plays Armstrong in on goal to tuck past the keeper.

MK Dons – Home – League – 1st V 24th

We get the opening goal when Armstrong scores from the tightest of angles past the keeper with a side footed effort. We win a penalty shortly before half time when King was pushed over and Alexander-Arnold steps up and fires it in to the bottom corner. Hendrick gets our third to put the game to bed when a corner causes a scramble in the area and Hendrick pokes it home. MK Dons do pull one back with a headed finish from a corner but it wasn’t enough.

Brighton – Away – League – 19th V 1st

A dominant first half performance and we take the lead just after the 30th minute. Our goal came from Hendrick when he plays a one two with Olomola and drills it along the floor in to the corner. We win a penalty when Olomola is pushed over but the keeper saves Armstrong’s shot. He makes up for his penalty miss when he gets on the end of a Alexander-Arnold cross to flick it in at the near post. Brighton pull one back with an effort from 20 yards flying in to the top corner with the keeper getting a slight hand to it. We make it three when Armstrong squares it to Ponce to curl in from the edge of the area.

Cardiff – Home – League – 1st V 6th

We take the lead early in the second half which turns out to be the only goal of the game when Olomola gets the ball up and over the wall and puts his free kick in to the top corner. Cardiff had a chance to come away with a share of the points but Grigg misses an open goal late on. We also gave debuts to Ball and Byram who both played well.

Fulham – Away – League – 2nd V 1st

Fulham take the lead with a low ball put in to the area and Avenatti is there to tap it home by putting it through the keepers legs. We wasn’t behind for long when Ponce beats his defender and smashes it in to the back of the net. Hendrick puts us in front when the ball is headed clear from a cross and he volleys it in to the top corner from 25 yards. They go down to ten men after Johansen gets a second yellow for a late tackle and we see out the game.

CHAMPIONS! We won the league comfortably in the end despite poor games against Bristol and Wycombe with us looking average and dropping points. We had a tough final few games but we won all of our last five games to end on a high. We dominate nearly every game we play but we do lack that clinical finishing in some games which does get frustrating but were the best team on the whole in the league and deserve to get promotion. We have agreed to sign a few players who I will show below and I feel they will improve the squad and give us a better chance of surviving in the Premier League next season. We have to buy smart this summer as it is going to be a massive test next season playing against some of the best teams in the world.

We have so far signed 6 players who are of a better quality than we already have at the club. We may have overpaid for an aging Mignolet but he has Premier League experience and should be good enough for us for another year or two. I am also pleased to get Ferri and Ntcham in for fairly cheap after we had been tracking them for months trying to persuade them to join us which they eventually did.
